At Pursell Farms, you can expect nothing less than excellent quail hunting. As guests wind through the picturesque farm, rattle across the wooden bridge and pass the longhorn cattle grazing alongside the road, they’ll begin to slow down and appreciate the beauty that God has created. From the moment hunters arrive at our front gate, the atmosphere and the mood are set for an unforgettable experience.

A day of hunting begins at Hamilton Place, the 1840’s plantation home restored by the Pursell family. Its mystique and grandeur take guests back to a feeling of old South -- back in time to the rich history and the tradition of the surrounding land. After a delicious home-cooked meal, guides will help load everyone into Club Car 4x4 vehicles and travel to a large hunting area managed strictly for quail hunting, with a perfect mix of native cover and thinned, mature pine stands alongside gently rolling pastures. Several plots of crops are also dispersed throughout the farm. This manicured terrain makes for enjoyable walking, especially when following behind a brace of well-trained hunting dogs. Hunters will enjoy watching our dogs work the fields, and when he or she suddenly locks on point, anticipation will build upon approach, leading to that indescribable thrill of seeing, hearing and feeling a covey rise! After an enjoyable and successful quail hunt, a few good laughs and a few new stories to share, guests will return to an outstanding meal and luxury accommodations.

Pursell Farms also offers 5 stand clay shooting at our world-class, multi-tiered range, featuring nine Promatic trap machines that throw targets from all angles — from high-crossing shots, to rabbits, to a wobble trap. In addition to experiencing unique quail hunts, guests may enjoy hunting deer, turkey, dove and duck at Pursell Farms. Guests can also wet a line for largemouth bass or bream in Lake Christine, Lodge Lake or Swamp Lake.
